Rankbids

How Rankbids works

A leaderboard where the ranking is the product. There is no algorithm, no editorial judgement and no secret weighting — position is bought, and we say so on every page.

The rule

The board is sorted by one number: what each listing paid. Highest first. When two listings have paid the same amount, the one that got there first keeps the higher spot.

To take a position, you pay $1 more than whoever holds it. That is the entire mechanic.

What it costs

The minimum bid is $5. Bids move in $1 steps.

Paying less than the current #1 does not get you rejected — it gets you a lower position. A $5 bid in an empty category takes #1. The same bid in a crowded one lands wherever $5 lands.

Every bid is a one-time payment handled by Stripe. Nothing recurs and there is nothing to cancel.

When someone outbids you

You move down. Your listing stays live at its new position — it is not removed, hidden or refunded. You bought a placement, and you keep the placement that money still buys.

You can raise your bid whenever you like. A raise has to beat what your own listing is already holding, and it resets your position as though it were a fresh bid.

All-time vs Today

All-time ranks every active listing by its standing bid.

Today only includes listings that received a paid bid in the last 24 hours. It is a cheaper board to lead, which is the point — a small bid placed this morning can top it while much larger all-time bids sit above it overall.

What you can submit

Any public link. A product site, an X profile, a GitHub repository, a Shopify store, an App Store or Play Store listing, a Substack, a portfolio.

When you paste one, we fetch the page and read its title, description and icon so the listing fills itself in, and pick the category that fits best. You can override the category before you pay, and you always see the exact listing before any money moves.

What we don't do

  • We don’t sell ad slots that look like organic rankings — everything here is a bid.
  • We don’t re-order the board by clicks, engagement or anything else.
  • We don’t remove a listing because a competitor asked.
  • We do remove links that are illegal, malicious, or misrepresent what they lead to. That is the only editorial call we make.
